Mechanism

Yucca schidigera ist eine kommerzielle Saponinquelle: Steroidsaponine binden Ammoniak und andere stickstoffhaltige Gase im Darm und in der Guelle, was traditionell zur Reduktion der Ammoniakbelastung im Stall genutzt wird. Ein Uebersichtsartikel fasst zusaetzlich anti-entzuendliche/anti-arthritische Effekte zusammen, die auf Saponinen sowie Polyphenolen (Resveratrol, Yuccaole A-E, NF-kappaB-Hemmung in vitro) beruhen sollen (Cheeke, Piacente, Oleszek 2006, J Inflamm, PMID 16571135). Regulatorisch ist Yucca schidigera in der EU als sensorischer Zusatzstoff/Aromastoff bewertet; die EFSA leitet Wirksamkeit und Sicherheit ueber den Saponingehalt und Einsatzmengen ab (EFSA FEEDAP 2024, DOI 10.2903/j.efsa.2024.8849). EHRLICH ZUR PFERDEDATENLAGE: das Gelenk-Marketing (anti-arthritisch) ist beim Pferd NICHT durch kontrollierte Studien gedeckt - die Evidenz stammt aus In-vitro-/Review-Arbeiten und anderen Spezies. Belegt/plausibel ist v. a. die Ammoniakbindung; alles Weitere ist Extrapolation.

· Steroidsaponine: schleimhautreizend, in vitro haemolytisch - Ueberdosierung und Daueranwendung meiden
· In der Traechtigkeit vorsorglich meiden (Saponine, unzureichende Datenlage)
· Gelenk-Wirkversprechen beim Pferd nicht durch equine Studien belegt
· Bitterer Geschmack kann Futterakzeptanz senken

How the Equiterna Score is built

The Equiterna Score combines three dimensions into a value of 0-100: science (40%), practical experience (30%) and safety (30%). It is transparently derived from evidence level, attributed sources (PubMed/journals), legal classification and cautions. The FEI doping status is shown separately as a competition-law note and does not enter the score. Commissions and vendor relationships have no influence on the score. In addition, the editorial safety rating caps the result: it limits the safety dimension and the overall tier (orange: at most solid). For entries rated red, no score is calculated at all. The rating never raises anything — a green rating does not lift a calculated value.
