Mechanism

Wild Yam liefert Steroidsaponine, insbesondere Diosgenin, das industriell als Ausgangsstoff der Steroidsynthese dient (ESCOP; pharmakognostische Literatur). Im Organismus wird Diosgenin jedoch nicht in Steroidhormone umgewandelt, sodass eine hormonelle Wirkung in vivo nicht belegt ist. Equine Daten fehlen.
