Mechanism

Wild Cherry Bark fuehrt cyanogene Glykoside (v.a. Prunasin), aus denen enzymatisch Blausaeure (Cyanid) freigesetzt werden kann (Merck Vet Manual; equine Toxikologie). Bei Weidetieren sind welke Blaetter und Rinde eine anerkannte Cyanidvergiftungsquelle. Trotz historischer Nutzung als hustenreizmildernd ueberwiegt beim Pferd das Vergiftungsrisiko.
