Mechanism

Timothee (Phleum pratense) ist ein etabliertes Pferde-Heugras. Das Reifestadium beim Schnitt bestimmt den Futterwert massgeblich: frueh geschnittenes Timothee-Haylage liefert ~14 MJ DE/kg TM (Basis fuer Leistungspferde), spaet geschnittenes nur ~9 MJ DE/kg TM und deckt eher den Erhaltungsbedarf (Ragnarsson & Lindberg 2008, Livestock Science). Die Faserverdauung von Timothee bei Equiden ist vergleichend untersucht (Uden & Van Soest 1982, Br J Nutr, PMID 6279144). Als Kaltzeitgras speichert Timothee Fruktan, akkumuliert davon aber tendenziell weniger als z.B. Rohrschwingel (Kagan et al. 2022, Grass and Forage Science, DOI 10.1111/gfs.12633), was spaet geschnittenes, strukturreiches Timothee-Heu haeufig zu einer gut geeigneten Komponente fuer zucker-/staerkesensible Pferde macht. Die Eignung im Einzelfall bleibt aber von Standort, Schnittzeitpunkt und einer Analyse abhaengig.

  • · Auch Timothee speichert Fruktan/Zucker; ein niedriger NSC-Gehalt ist nicht garantiert - bei EMS/Rehe Heu analysieren lassen.
  • · Spaet geschnittenes Timothee ist eiweiss- und energiearm; bei hohem Bedarf (Zucht, Sport, Wachstum) reicht es allein nicht aus.
