Mechanism

Das lipophile Beerenextrakt besteht ueberwiegend aus freien Fettsaeuren (u.a. Laurin-, Oel-, Palmitinsaeure), deren Ethylestern und Phytosterolen (v.a. beta-Sitosterol). Freie Fettsaeuren hemmen die 5-alpha-Reduktase Typ 1 (nicht-kompetitiv) und Typ 2 (unkompetitiv) und mindern so die Umwandlung von Testosteron zu Dihydrotestosteron (Raynaud et al., PMID 12477490). Humane Studien und Metaanalysen zur benignen Prostatahyperplasie zeigen gemischte Ergebnisse; hochwertige Cochrane-Auswertungen fanden keinen klaren Vorteil gegenueber Placebo. Equine Daten fehlen; wegen des Eingriffs in den Androgenstoffwechsel ist die Anwendung reproduktionsrelevant und bei Zuchttieren kritisch. Einordnung: Ergaenzungsfuttermittel mit hormoneller Vorbehaltslage.

How the Equiterna Score is built

The Equiterna Score combines three dimensions into a value of 0-100: science (40%), practical experience (30%) and safety (30%). It is transparently derived from evidence level, attributed sources (PubMed/journals), legal classification and cautions. The FEI doping status is shown separately as a competition-law note and does not enter the score. Commissions and vendor relationships have no influence on the score.
