Prolin

Mechanism

Prolin ist beim Pferd nicht-essenziell und wird endogen gebildet (Mok & Urschel 2020, Asian-Australas J Anim Sci, PMID 32164055). Seine ringfoermige Struktur erzwingt die charakteristische Tripelhelix des Kollagens; nach dem Einbau wird ein Teil enzymatisch zu Hydroxyprolin umgewandelt, das die Helix stabilisiert. Prolin, Glycin und Hydroxyprolin machen zusammen rund 57 % der Kollagen-Aminosaeuren aus (Li & Wu 2018, Amino Acids, PMID 28929384). Li & Wu argumentieren, dass die endogene Prolin-Synthese bei schnellem Wachstum oder hohem Bindegewebsumsatz konditionell limitierend werden koennte, weshalb Prolin als 'konditionell essenziell' diskutiert wird. Diese Ueberlegungen stammen ueberwiegend aus Modell- und Nutztierdaten (v. a. Schwein/Gefluegel); kontrollierte Studien, die einen Nutzen einer Prolin-Supplementierung fuer Sehnen, Knorpel oder Hautgesundheit beim Pferd belegen, existieren nicht. Eine gezielte Zufuhr ist daher nicht evidenzbasiert; equine Dosis-Wirkungs-Daten fehlen.
