Mechanism

Wirkbestimmend sind die Limonoide/Triterpenoide Azadirachtin, Nimbidin und Nimbin, vor allem in Blatt- und Samenoel. In-vitro und tierexperimentell sind antimikrobielle, antifungale, insektenabweisende, immunmodulierende und entzuendungshemmende Effekte beschrieben (Molecules-Toxizitaetsreview 2021). Klinisch relevant und gut dokumentiert ist die reversible Reproduktionstoxizitaet: Neemoel und Azadirachtin beeintraechtigen im Nagermodell maennliche und weibliche Fortpflanzungsparameter, wirken spermizid und in der Traechtigkeit teratogen/abortiv (J Ethnopharmacol 2024). Equine Wirksamkeitsstudien fehlen; die orale Anwendung ist wegen des Fertilitaets- und Traechtigkeitsrisikos kritisch, aeusserlich ist der Einsatz als Insektizid/Repellent verbreitet. Einordnung: Ergaenzungsfuttermittel bzw. topisches Repellent mit ausgepraegtem Reproduktionsvorbehalt.

How the Equiterna Score is built

The Equiterna Score combines three dimensions into a value of 0-100: science (40%), practical experience (30%) and safety (30%). It is transparently derived from evidence level, attributed sources (PubMed/journals), legal classification and cautions.
