Mechanism
Mucuna pruriens enthaelt betraechtliche Mengen L-DOPA (Levodopa), die Vorstufe von Dopamin; in Human- und Nagermodellen sind dopaminerge, neuroendokrine Effekte dokumentiert (Review-Pharmakognosie). Wegen dieser ZNS-/dopaminergen Aktivitaet ist die Substanz pharmakologisch nicht als harmloses Nahrungskraut einzuordnen. Equine Daten fehlen; der L-DOPA-Gehalt macht sie im Wettkampf besonders sensibel.
