Mechanism

Laurinsaeure ist mit rund 45-53 % die dominierende Fettsaeure des Kokosoels. In vitro stoeren mittelkettige Fettsaeuren (vor allem C12 und C10) mikrobielle Zellmembranen und den Energiestoffwechsel und zeigen Aktivitaet gegen grampositive und gramnegative Keime, Pilze und Viren (Yang et al. 2017, Front Microbiol 8:2635, DOI 10.3389/fmicb.2017.02635, Hemmung von Clostridioides difficile in vitro und im Mausmodell; Uebersicht: Biomedical Applications of Lauric Acid, PMC11260118). Mittelkettige Fettsaeuren werden zudem direkter absorbiert und oxidiert als langkettige. Entscheidend fuer die ehrliche Einordnung: Es gibt keine kontrollierten Pferdestudien zu antimikrobiellen oder metabolischen Effekten der Laurinsaeure - saemtliche Aussagen sind aus In-vitro-, Nager- und Monogastrier-Daten extrapoliert. Kokos-/MCT-Oele werden beim Pferd anekdotisch als Energie- und Fellzusatz eingesetzt; eine Uebertragung der In-vitro-Keimhemmung auf eine Darm- oder Systemwirkung beim Pferd ist nicht belegt.
