Mechanism

Koenigskerzenblueten und -kraut enthalten Schleimstoffe (~3%), Triterpensaponine, Iridoidglykoside und das Phenylethanoid Verbascosid (EMA Community herbal monograph Verbasci flos; Springer-Review 2021). Die Schleimstoffe wirken demulzent auf gereizte Rachen- und Bronchialschleimhaut, waehrend Saponine traditionell als sekretolytisch/expektorierend gelten. In-vitro und tierexperimentell zeigten Verbascum-Extrakte antimikrobielle, antiinflammatorische und bronchospasmolytische (glattmuskel-relaxierende) Effekte (anthelmintische/relaxierende Aktivitaet, PMC3350428; ethnopharmakologisches Review Benitez et al. 2021, PMC8301161). Klinische Wirksamkeitsstudien beim Pferd liegen nicht vor; die Anwendung beruht auf traditioneller Humanverwendung bei Reizhusten und der plausiblen Schleim-/Saponin-Wirkung. Einordnung: Ergaenzungsfuttermittel, traditionell atemwegsberuhigend diskutiert - keine Heilaussage.
