Mechanism
myo-Inositol wird de novo aus Glukose-6-phosphat gebildet (Inositol-1-phosphat-Synthase) und in Leber, Niere, Gehirn und Hoden synthetisiert; Saeuger produzieren Gramm-Mengen pro Tag, weshalb es allgemein als nicht essenziell gilt. Die historische Einordnung als Vitamin B8 wurde verworfen, weil Monogastrier ihren Bedarf ueber die koerpereigene Synthese decken (Uebersicht: Nutritional and Acquired Deficiencies in Inositol Bioavailability, Int J Mol Sci 2017;18:2187, DOI 10.3390/ijms18102187; Uebersicht zur myo-Inositol-Metabolik u.a. in der Gefluegelernaehrung). Ein diaetetischer Bedarf entsteht nur in Sonderfaellen (z.B. bei Fischen und bestimmten Wuestenrennmaeusen) - fuer das Pferd ist ein solcher Bedarf nicht dokumentiert, und NRC 2007 legt keine equine Inositol-Anforderung fest. In Pflanzen/Futter liegt Inositol groesstenteils als Phytat (Inositolhexaphosphat) vor, das zugleich Phosphor bindet - relevant fuer phytatreiche Futter wie Reiskleie. Kontrollierte equine Interventionsdaten, die einen Nutzen einer Inositol-Supplementierung fuer Leistung oder Stoffwechsel belegen, existieren nicht; entsprechende Aussagen sind Extrapolationen aus anderen Spezies.
