Die Blätter zeigen in vitro eine hohe antioxidative Kapazität. Kontrollierte Pferdestudien fehlen; Hainbuchenlaub gilt praktisch als schmackhaftes Browsing-Laub, die Einordnung ist traditions- und botanikbegründet.
