Solidago virgaurea

Mechanism

Goldenrod herb contains flavonoids (quercetin/kaempferol derivatives), saponins (virgaureasaponins) and essential oil. Traditionally goldenrod is used aquaretically to flush the lower urinary tract — urine volume is increased without it being a diuretic in the pharmacological sense. An adequate water intake is a precondition of use. Robust equine studies are lacking; use is shaped by empirical medicine.

· Use only with free access to sufficient water (flushing)
· Do not use for flushing in case of oedema due to cardiac/renal disease — consult a vet
· Composite (Asteraceae) sensitivity possible

How the Equiterna Score is built

The Equiterna Score combines three dimensions into a value of 0-100: science (40%), practical experience (30%) and safety (30%).
