Mechanism

Glycin ist die kleinste Aminosaeure und beim Pferd nicht-essenziell, kann also endogen synthetisiert werden (Mok & Urschel 2020, Asian-Australas J Anim Sci, PMID 32164055). Es ist mit rund einem Drittel der Aminosaeurereste der mengenmaessig wichtigste Baustein von Kollagen und damit strukturell fuer Bindegewebe, Sehnen, Haut und Knochenmatrix bedeutsam; zusammen mit Prolin und Hydroxyprolin stellen diese drei Aminosaeuren etwa 57 % der Kollagen-Aminosaeuren (Li & Wu 2018, Amino Acids, PMID 28929384). Daneben ist Glycin Substrat der Glutathion- und Kreatinsynthese sowie von Konjugationsreaktionen (u. a. Hippursaeurebildung). Li & Wu diskutieren fuer schnell wachsende Tiere, dass die endogene Glycin-Synthese unter Wachstums- oder Belastungsspitzen konditionell limitierend werden koennte - direkte, kontrollierte Wirknachweise am Pferd (etwa fuer Sehnen-/Knorpelgesundheit) liegen jedoch nicht vor. Eine routinemaessige Supplementierung ist daher nicht begruendet; equine Dosis-Wirkungs-Daten fehlen.
