Mechanism

Blätter, Rinde und junge Zweige von Fraxinus excelsior enthalten Cumarine (Fraxin, Esculin/Aesculin und verwandte), Secoiridoide und Phenylethanoide, Flavonoide sowie Mannitol (Übersicht: Kostova & Iossifova 2007, Chemical components of Fraxinus species, Fitoterapia, DOI 10.1016/j.fitote.2006.11.002). Für Blattextrakte sind in vitro entzündungsmodulierende Effekte beschrieben (Bio-Guided Isolation of Compounds from Fraxinus excelsior Leaves with Anti-Inflammatory Activity, 2023, PMC9964138). Esche wird traditionell als Laubheu bzw. Astfutter geschätzt und meist gut angenommen; kontrollierte Pferdestudien zur Wirksamkeit fehlen.

  • · Cumaringehalt - bei gleichzeitiger gerinnungsrelevanter Medikation zurückhaltend.
  • · Verwechslungssicher bestimmen; das gefiederte Laub nicht mit der giftigen Robinie (Scheinakazie) verwechseln, generell Abgrenzung zu Eibe, Bergahorn/Hypoglycin A, Eiche.
