Mechanism

Disteloel (Safloroel) gehoert zu den linolsaeurereichsten Speiseoelen und liefert gut verdauliche Energie (equine Fettverdaulichkeit rund 88-94 %), praktisch aber keine Omega-3-Fettsaeuren. Es erhoeht damit die n-6-Last der Ration; Linolsaeure ist Vorstufe der Arachidonsaeure. Hartwig et al. 2025 (J Anim Sci, DOI 10.1093/jas/skaf025) zeigten am Modell des LA-reichen Sonnenblumenoels (dem Disteloel im Fettsaeuremuster aehnelt), dass ein Wechsel zu ALA-reichen Oelen das n-6:n-3-Verhaeltnis der Haut innerhalb von 8 Wochen senkt - funktionelle Immun-/Entzuendungsendpunkte unterschieden sich jedoch nicht, sodass die praktische Tragweite des Verhaeltnisses beim gesunden Pferd offen bleibt. O'Connor et al. 2004 (J Anim Sci 82:2978) verglichen n-6-reiches Maisoel mit Fischoel. Als reines Energieoel ist Disteloel unproblematisch; als vermeintliches Omega-Supplement ist es kontraproduktiv, da es n-6 statt n-3 zufuehrt.
