Chlorella

Chlorella vulgaris

Mechanism

Chlorella (Chlorella vulgaris) is a single-celled freshwater microalga with a high content of chlorophyll, protein, carotenoids, B vitamins and trace elements. It is traditionally used as a supplier of nutrients and vital substances as well as for general support; individual constituents are credited with antioxidant properties. Controlled equine studies on clinical endpoints are largely lacking. Quality and purity depend strongly on origin and cell-wall disruption, which is why attention should be paid to tested products.

Cautions

  • · Heavy-metal/contaminant load possible depending on origin — only tested quality with a batch CoA
  • · Mind the iodine and micronutrient content — avoid double supply with mineral feed/other algae
