Mechanism

Black Walnut fuehrt das Naphthochinon Juglon; beim Pferd ist Schwarznuss-Kontakt, insbesondere als Spaeneeinstreu, ein etablierter Ausloeser akuter Hufrehe (Laminitis) (Merck Vet Manual; equine Toxikologie). Bereits geringe Anteile in der Einstreu koennen innerhalb von Stunden Rehe hervorrufen. Eine innerliche Anwendung ist nicht angezeigt.
