Mechanism

Bentonit besteht ueberwiegend aus dem Smektit-Tonmineral Montmorillonit. Seine geschichtete Alumosilikat-Struktur mit hoher spezifischer Oberflaeche und Kationenaustauschkapazitaet ermoeglicht die Adsorption von Wasser, Toxinen und geladenen Molekuelen. In der EU ist Bentonit als technologischer Zusatzstoff (Bindemittel, Trenn-/Anti-Backmittel und Radionuklid-Kontrolle; 1m558i) fuer alle Tierarten sowie als Stoff zur Verringerung der Mykotoxin-Kontamination (Aflatoxin B1; 1m558) fuer Wiederkaeuer, Gefluegel und Schweine zugelassen (EFSA FEEDAP 2025, DOI 10.2903/j.efsa.2025.9553; EFSA FEEDAP 2025, DOI 10.2903/j.efsa.2025.9263). Die Bindung von Aflatoxin B1 gilt als am besten belegte Funktion. Fuer darueber hinausgehende gesundheitliche Effekte beim Pferd (Magen-Darm-Stabilisierung, Kotwasser) ist die Datenlage duenn und beruht ueberwiegend auf Analogieschluessen aus Nutztier- und Humanstudien zu Smektiten. Zu beachten: Bentonit adsorbiert unspezifisch und kann daher auch Naehrstoffe und Arzneistoffe binden.

Cautions

  • · Adsorbiert unspezifisch auch Medikamente, Vitamine, Spurenelemente und Entwurmer - immer zeitversetzt geben (mind. 1-2 h Abstand); bei Dauergabe Risiko von Mineral- und Wirkstoffmangel.
  • · Nur deklarierte Futtermittelqualitaet verwenden (Schwermetall-/Dioxin-Kontrolle); Staub ist augen- und atemwegsreizend (Sensibilisierung).
  • · Kein Ersatz fuer ursaechliche Behandlung; belegte Wirkung v. a. auf Aflatoxin-Bindung begrenzt.
