Mechanism

Bergahorn (Acer pseudoplatanus) bildet in Samen und Keimlingen Hypoglycin A, dessen Metabolit (MCPA-CoA) den Fettsäurestoffwechsel der Muskulatur blockiert und die oft tödliche atypische Weidemyopathie auslöst (EVJ; Atypical Myopathy Alert Group). Betroffen sind vor allem Weidepferde in Herbst und Frühjahr. Eine gezielte Verfütterung ist strikt zu vermeiden; Ahornsamen sind von Weiden fernzuhalten.
