Rubbing mane / tail
A common symptom with very different possible causes. The classification below helps recognise the likely direction — it does not replace a veterinary assessment.
- !sudden or one-sided, intense rubbing to the point of self-injury
- !at the same time behavioural change, swaying/ataxia, recumbency or tail/anal paralysis
- !fever, apathy or open, weeping/bloody wounds with fly maggots
